Redbox and smartfoxbits

Postby Prof_PP » 31 Mar 2008, 08:24

Hi Guys,

You suggested sometime ago that smartfoxbits would include a drag and drop for redbox video components. Did/will this happen or did you decide otherwise. It would certainly help as the base product was built with smartfoxbits to speed development. If this is not the case, I will have to re-develop and bits was a waste of money

Currently we are evaluating if the RedBox API should be ported to AS2: there's a number of technical issues in doing this. Also, it all depends on the number of requests for AS2 API that we will receive. You are the first to ask .

All our applications are in AS2 also. Does this mean redbox classes will not work? This is next on the workplan...

Meanwhile, you could check the AS3 API and "copy" the functionalities you may need into your application

Sounds like a major job. Is there an easier way to intergrate the AS3
API?

and these technical issues ?? :?

Thanks in advance
Paul.

At the moment the RedBox classes are for Actionscript 3.0 so they won't work in AS 2

The AS 2.0 Api still have some relationship with their older AS 1.0 parent which did not allow multiple listeners subscription.

We're going to refactor the AS 2.0 API soon with this new feature which will allow us to port the RedBox AS 2 as well

I don't have a timeline for this right now. Ideally it would be by the end of April. I will keep you informed about how it progresses.
