an a/v connection error occurred

Postby giorgio79 » 05 Mar 2008, 09:23

Hi Guys,

I am facing another issue now

I am getting the error as per the subject int he video chat, and cannot record video and such.

In the chat I get this message:

Error: Red5 connection not available [sendChatRequest method]
at com.smartfoxserver.redbox::AVChatManager/sendChatRequest()
at SmartFoxChatAV/startAVChat()
at components::ChatWindow/components::startAVChat()
at components::ChatWindow/__bt_startAV_click()

Would you know what this could be?

I managed to start the red5 server fine now. (I think :P )

As described in the RedBox API, this exception is raised whenever you call a method which requires the connection to Red5, but this is not available.
The AVChatManager establishes a connection to Red5 during initialization, when the class is instantiated. Check the trace console for possible connection errors.

Giorgio, are you using the provided Red5 (0.6.3) or are you using the latest 0.7.0 version?
Because I was trying to test the RedBox examples with version 0.7.0 (under Windows, as under MacOSX is not yet available), and I get the same issue: the NetConnection.connect method doesn't seem to be able to connect, and the NetConnection.Connect.InvalidApp status event is returned. With version 0.6.3 everything works fine.

I am using the one which came with SFS, but I notice I have to open some ports, so working on that at the moment :P

Bax, could you continue on this, please? I'm having the same problem and getting the NetConnection.Connect.InvalidApp error when attempting to initialize the AVChatManager. I'm using 1.6.1 and red5 0.6.3 on Windows. Are there ports that need to be opened that I'm not aware of?

Thanks!

TCP port 1935 should be open for traffic, that's the port used by the RTMP protocol

Even when working from the localhost? Seems like there's no place to specifically "open" that port (sorry, maybe I'm just going brain dead here).

Would that cause an invalid connection response?

Thanks!

kfblake
on the localhost sounds unlikely, but is the RedBox running?
if you telnet port 1935 does it accepts the connection?

Well, it connects via telnet, but doesnt show anything. Not sure if Red5 has a response setup. It's running as a service, so I'd assume its running.

kfblake , are you creating your own application or just testing our examples?
