string &/ in nicknames

Postby Jipii » 24 Oct 2009, 17:29

Hi,

is there a restriction for nick names?
I want to allow special chars in nick names, like §$&()/\
I testes some names and now I noticed that SmartFox remove every &/ in nicknames. My name was !§$%&/()°°#**++ hihi and is after my login validation !§$%()°°#**++ hihi.
Thanks!

Some of those characters can be problematic for databases, input fields etc... so by default they are removed.
You configure them in each zone. Take a look here
Scroll down to the Filtering user names and room names section

Hey Lapo,

Hmm, I did not know that... I mean, thats really good.
So, this kind of characters are automatically removed? I was worried to manage this in my scripts... so I dont need to script this?
