Resolving username from userid?

Can I do this on a server extension? I don't want to trust the client to send me his username as part of the sendXtMessage. I need to use the username in an SQL statement.

Sorry, your question is not very clear.
Anyways, each User object carries the user name with it ( getUserName() ), and you can trust it because the server does session management behind the scenes for you.
