Island Demo

Postby lastowl » 26 Oct 2010, 19:07

Will the island demo have a smartfox 2x version? I've been having problems getting the player transformation to work in my own tests, so a complete example would be very use full.

There will (soon?) be a much better demo than the island one for SFS2X :-)

Yes yes :-D

Its the much talked about FPS example which has autoritative server + uses TCP+UDP and has extrapolation code too.

So will be cool

autoritative = makes it harder to cheat since the server decides if an action is valid or not before it sends it to all other clients
extrapolation = prediction on player movement to fight lag.
the old island demo already had interpolation which smooths player movement between known points, extrapolation goes beyond and predicts whats not known

Its been code wise done for a long time - but I cant seem to find the 2-3 days thats needed to clean it up, write the documentation part and all that. Swamped with work :-(

So "soon" = as soon as humanly possible (and when Marco allows it) :-D
