404 Error

Postby GMZBST » 16 Mar 2020, 13:43

We're new to SFS, we've followed all the blog pages on installing it but continually get the 404 error page with this text on it:

HTTP Status 404 – Not Found
Type Status Report

Message Not found

Description The origin server did not find a current representation for the target resource or is not willing to disclose that one exists.

Apache Tomcat/9.0.22

We've opened the 8080 and 9933 ports for tcp and udp on our firewall, we've started the service and get confirmation that the daemon is running, I've edited the server.xml file to include the public IP. We are running on a Linux RHEP 7 and use http Apache.

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm out of ideas as so what could be causing this.

what URL are you trying to access exactly?

Thanks

Hi,
it looks like your installation is corrupted and necessary files are missing.
I would recommend to download the SFS2X installer from here:
https://www.smartfoxserver.com/download#p=installer

and install it again, to a different folder.
Thanks

I downloaded the file, uploaded it, unzipped from the command line, edited the server.xml and still get the same error when accessing http://108.166.8.75:8080/admin/

I followed all these steps:

» SFS2X setup on a remote server
In order to setup SmartFoxServer 2X on a remote machine, for example an Amazon EC2 instance, after the installation you have to make some manual changes to the configuration before being able to access the Administration Tool. You should follow these steps:

locate and open (in a text editor) the main SFS2X xml configuration file: {sfs-install-dir}/SFS2X/config/server.xml;
under the <socketAddresses> tag, substitute the 127.0.0.1 address with the private IP address of yor server (alternatively you can leave the localhost and add a new <socket> entry for the private IP);
make sure that the <allowedRemoteAddresses> list have no entries (delete them if necessary), then save the changes;
check the firewall settings: you have to allow communication over ports 8080 and 9933 (at least);
start SmartFoxServer 2X, open a browser and type http://your-public-ip:8080 to have access to the page which links the Administration Tool and some examples (please notice that the examples won't work – see the previous note);
open the AdminTool, enter the public IP of the server in the host field and the default username/password: you should now have access to your SFS instance.

Did you stop the previous server process that was running?
What operating system are you using?

Thanks

I would like to access remotely your server and see what is going on.
If this is possible send me a private message with the details.

Thanks
