Help to consider CPU

Postby gamezoka » 11 Feb 2020, 09:51

Hello,

We're going to upgrade our server as the currently server getting busy on CPU. We are having 2 options for

2x AMD EPYC 7401 - 24 cores (48threads)
and
2x Intel E5-2650v4 - 12 Cores (24threads)

These options are going with the same price on the data center. Could you advise what option should I select please?

Thank you in advanced.

They both seem very good options.
Here's a comparison that might help:

Maybe the decision can also be based on the other parameters such as the amount of RAM and disk available with each offer.

Hope it helps

Thanks Lapo,

The disk and RAM are the same. But the AMD go with double of physical cores, will it help to speed up smartfoxserver with heavy load?

We're running E5 2650v2 and always see one java thread with over 150% of CPU (but the server load fine, other thread running well)

More cores can be helpful for sure, however we've never tested this particular AMD CPU so I can't say how it stacks up against Intel's Xeon.

Cheers
