SSL Certificate's issuer unknown in case of firefox only

Postby pratts » 20 Jul 2018, 10:26

Hi,

We have an SSL certificate installed on our server.
While opening the URL : https://domain_name:websocket_secure_port, we see no issues if we use google chrome. In that case, we see a green mark on the address bar and the text : "SFS2X Websocket Index Page" on the browser. In server logs, we see the following logs :
20 Jul 2018 | 12:19:39,553 | INFO | New I/O worker #20 | bitswarm.sessions.DefaultSessionManager | | Session created: { Id: 1586703, Type: WEBSOCKET, Logged: No,
IP: XXX.XXX.XXX.XX } on Server port: 8893 <---> 53309
20 Jul 2018 | 12:19:39,622 | WARN | New I/O worker #18 | websocket.netty.WebSocketServerHandler | | org.jboss.netty.handler.codec.http.websocketx.WebSocketHandsha
keException: not a WebSocket handshake request: missing upgrade
20 Jul 2018 | 12:19:39,622 | INFO | New I/O worker #18 | bitswarm.sessions.DefaultSessionManager | | Session removed: { Id: 1586701, Type: WEBSOCKET, Logged: No,
IP: XXX.XXX.XXX.XX:YYYY }

But is we open the same URL in mozilla firefox, we the error that "The connection is not secure". We get the error code :
SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

In server logs, we get the error :
20 Jul 2018 | 12:18:42,498 | INFO | New I/O worker #4 | bitswarm.sessions.DefaultSessionManager | | Session created: { Id: 1586658, Type: WEBSOCKET, Logged: No, I
P: XXX.XXX.XXX.XX } on Server port: 8893 <---> 50018
20 Jul 2018 | 12:18:42,613 | WARN | New I/O worker #4 | websocket.netty.WebSocketServerHandler | | javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Received fatal alert: unknown_ca
20 Jul 2018 | 12:18:42,613 | INFO | New I/O worker #4 | bitswarm.sessions.DefaultSessionManager | | Session removed: { Id: 1586658, Type: WEBSOCKET, Logged: No, I
P: XXX.XXX.XXX.XX:YYYYY }

Can you please help find the cause of the issue ?

Hi,
we've never seen this issue before but Googling for similar errors returned this::
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/er ... e-websites

Here it is basically saying that Firefox does not support the certification authority.
I would probably recommend getting in touch with the company that issued the certificate and report the problem with Firefox.

Hope it helps
