100K CCU Whitepaper Question

Postby dhuang11 » 11 Mar 2015, 03:32

Hi-

Have a question about the 100K CCU white paper. It mentions that during the 100K CCU test, ~18000 Rooms are created. It doesn't mention anything about the 18000 Rooms being segregated into Room Groups. Were Room Groups used for that test or were all ~18000 Rooms running under the "default" Room Group?

Thanks!

Good question.
The rooms were created in separate Room Group that was not subscribed by the stress test bots.

The reason is to save huge quantities of client memory during the test. If we allowed every single user to obtain the full room list, each client would have wasted memory keeping one copy of the room list. It is 18K Rooms multiplied 100K times. = 1.8 Billion Room objects in memory!

So we avoided this to overload our client machines. I don't think this alters the result of the test since it's just a way to spare client memory, it doesn't affect the server performance.

Hope it helps
