SFS, Cluster, Cloud Terracotta

Postby petergpls » 23 May 2013, 07:29

Hi.
I have been searching the forums only to become more and more confused. It seems that load balancing and terracotta are all non-viable options. What is SFS2X strategy to support huge MMO with very large CCU's i.e. multiple instances of SFS2X on multiple servers on geographical world wide POPs? Is there an up to date document which defines the strategy for implementation given that terracotta is no longer viable and the product has moved along now?

You should read the SmartFoxServer 2X Server Architecture white paper available here: http://docs2x.smartfoxserver.com/Overview/white-papers

Thanks for this however the papers are April 2012 and they do not describe the alternative to terracotta but simply state not supported anymore - what is the alternative?

The whitepaper offers several examples of how to architect a cluster by using multiple dedicated servers.
The strategy by which you split the application on multiple machines is heavily dependent on what your application does. For example in a multi-game environment you can have a main server for the Lobby and any number of dedicated machines for each game.

What is not clear in this approach? As regards the "Cloud" that you have mentioned in the title, it is pretty much irrelevant whether the machines are physical or virtual.

Thanks
