I tried to find an answer to this problem and saw that you have to restart the server for the created room to be activated etc. However...even after I restart SmartFoxServer the created room stays Gray and are not active. Are there any additional steps/rules to have the room not show up in the Gray state. Steps that I did are as follow:
1. Created the room via Zone Configurator by clicking on the Add icon (as I would like the room to be permamnent)
2. Submitted the changes after creation
3. Restarted SmartFoxServer
Did I miss a required step somewhere?
I also compared the xml files from BasicExamples to mine...its almost identical except in Privilege Manager...although the active there is also set to false.

Solution: The length of the room name was just exceeding with 1 character
