InteractivePNG and OpenSpace

Postby laxersaz » 30 Mar 2010, 14:44

Hello together,

we use transparent PNGs as map objects and encounter a problem with the flash bounding boxes when objects overlap and need to handle clicks. If some map objects overlap this makes it almost unplayable since objects are overlapping others with their transparent areas.

We tried using the InteractivePNG class (http://blog.mosessupposes.com/?p=40) that we have used in some Flex projects before. But whenever a map object extends this class, it is completely invisible in OpenSpace. It seems like OpenSpace checks for skins to inherit from MovieClip or Sprite which is quite odd since InteractivePNG extends MovieClip.

Is there any other solution except for vectorizing pixel images and cutting away the transparent parts?

Regards,

You can still remove the transparent parts of PNGs without converting them to vectors: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/128/tn_12804.html
