Warning! To everyone using SendXtMessage with string/raw

Postby ThomasLund » 10 May 2009, 09:33

Hi everyone

A quick warning up front.

The next API version 1.2.0 will break the string based protocol for sending messages to your extensions. JSON and XML based ones will not be affected.

I have in previous versions of the API introduced a cross platform incompatibility by taking a Hashtable and using key=value data in the string that is send to the extension.

This is not how the other APIs operate and thus you would/will run into cross platform incompatibility.

Therefore from version 1.2.0 and on I will require you to give an Arraylist to the SendXtMessage method when using MSG_STR as type.

This WILL break your code - both the client side and server side extension too - if you used MSG_STR.

But I have deemed it more important to get in line with the other APIs then not fixing this ASAP.

Sorry for the inconvenience and extra work this will introduce in your end.

Best

Hi Thomas,

Is there a date we can expect the 1.2.0 API?

Thanks in advance!

It all comes down to Marco really and his very busy time schedule.

The code itself is ready.

So do I dare say "days" rather than "weeks"?
(/me ducks the angry glare from Marco)
