PLEASE HELP

Postby xrayblaze67CPSFS » 10 Mar 2010, 23:39

Ok, I need help, because I have been working on this forever, and it's really starting to become a problem. I can't change the character or anything that I want to change in the avatarChat.fla file. In fact, I can even open it. It says it can't find the file. So I can't open it or change anything. Please help!

Which version of the AvatarChat example do you refer to?
Actionscript 2 or 3?
If it's AS3 you will need Flash CS3 or higher to edit the FLA

Ok, I got it but when I try to open the .fla file, it says

Unexpected File Format

So, I don't know whats going on because it works with all of the .fla files.

Maybe the file got corrupted. Try downloading and installing in another folder then go in the Examples/ directory and try opening the file.

No I mean downloading SmartFoxServer again, installing in a different folder and grab the example(s) that are not working in your current installation.

There's seven of them in flash cs3, and in the avatarChat.fla file, but when I test it out, there is a coding error where the login button wont work, and a few other variable errors I think.

I am a little lost at this.
You said you could not open the AvatarChat.fla example for AS2 using CS3? Is this correct or not? If you can't open it then I don't understand how you can try to compile it :)

Please, explain exactly which example doesn't work for you and if there are errors please report them here.

Also are you aware that you need to tell Flash to use the SmartFox API in order to compile the code? Please refer to the documentation:

Yes, I have read the docs about that MULTIPLE times but, nothing. Obviously you know more about this than I do and need some help also with flash API. So i really dont know how to get into the flash API. Ive been following the instructions and everything... but nothing.
