Problems Connecting Externally

Postby Sparticus » 27 Feb 2006, 17:49

Hello,

I tried reading the forums and couldn't seem to find the solution.

If I run the server and try and connect locally... it works perfectly. If I try connecting externally.... it fails.

I checked my router and my port 9339 is forwarded to the correct computer.

I tried telneting from the local computer to port 9339, and I got some xml text (which means it worked). I tried the same thign externaly.... it failed to connect.

So one would think that I have a firewall or something... I don't... and windows default firewall is turned off.

The weird thing is, I ran a packet sniffer.... tried telnetting from an external address... and my computer where the server is runnign detected the packets coming in....

I ran nmap from my linux box the the windows server and it didn't find the port 9339 open.

My best guess is that I have my server configured improperly... it must be set to only allow local connections.... is this possible?

any ideas?

thanx

Attention: you should use your local address not the IP address of the router.
That's why you get that error

Thanx for the response Lapo.

For some reason I thought 127.0.0.1 was the same as 192.168.2.1 (both my local ip address)

but when I changed it to 192.168.2.1 everythign worked perfectly!

Thanx for all the support. We all appreciate it!!
