Hack Protect?

Postby WorldOfNyan » 03 Feb 2012, 00:54

Hey guys! I have been looking around and noticed how some games get hacked with certain programs. Well I am not sure if this is server side or in game but is there a way I can block/ban anyone who uses a Packet Editor? More Specifically WPE Pro?

Hi.

To find if people are using a hacking tool, the only way to find it out is by studying their behaviors, by using a server-side extension, and then ban/kick those users using the Sever-side API. These behaviors could be walking really fast, getting a lot of money, etc.

In my opinion, it is preferable to first prevent those hacks instead of banning people who use them, as it may become a difficult task to find them out. To fight hacking, the motto is "never trust the client", which means, basically control everything from the server-side (using extensions and user properties, etc) and from the client you just send commands like "walk here" or "buy this".

Yep you're correct, but anyway, the best solution is always to never trust the client, that way, you can guarantee that the game will work fine.
