Trying to set up admin swf on webpage

Postby Carl » 27 Jan 2007, 19:58

I'm trying to set up the admin tool on a webpage so I won't have to terminal into my server every time I want to change my config file, and just for ease of use. I can't connect to the server this way, using the correct Ip, user and password. I have to check to see if the port is right.

Anyway, I noticed that when I use the admin tool through the terminal, on startup of the server it shows me this message:

2007/01/27 14:43:10.679 - [ WARNING ] [id: 10] (SmartFoxServer.acceptNewConnections): Generic Exception in acceptNewConnections():java.nio.channels.ClosedSelectorException
2007/01/27 14:55:10.850 - [ WARNING ] [id: 13] (SmartFoxServer.acceptNewConnections): Generic Exception in acceptNewConnections():java.nio.channels.ClosedSelectorException

Could this be preventing me from loggin in remotely? Is it something wrogn with my java installation?

q #1: is the tool working as a standalone app? I mean, by launching it in the standalone flash player?

q #2: does that error pops up each time you attempt an admin login?

Remote Admin Problem

Postby Carl » 29 Jan 2007, 15:10

A#1: I tried it both ways. The admin tool works fine when running from the desktop of the server computer, but not when I run it from my own desktop, or from a webpage. Of course, I put in the correct IP when on my desktop or on webpage.

A#2: This error is logged each time, and there are always 2 in a row.

Are you on a Mac? Maybe an Intel Mac?
I've experienced a few glitches in the flash player 9 for Mac with our Admin Tool ( and not only ... :( )

Could you try from another machine? And see if it works?

Thanks

Yes, I'm on a mac, but my partner just tried it on a windows XP, the admin wouldn't log in.

To be clear, the errors that I see are when I log into the server remotely, run the admin from the server desktop, and check the admin logs.

What, specifically, do the errors mean?

Your config IP was not correct

In your config file the IP address is probably the default so you have to add it there to be usable form the out side.

Carl: the error you get is network error.
It sounds odd that this happens only when using the admin tool.
Have you tested any of our examples? do they work fine?
