Problem with SFS Starting

Postby mrnothersan » 16 Feb 2011, 16:30

Hello,
I have been using SFS for some time now. When I come to start SFS, I need to change the port in the config.xml file for it to start the server.
The error message is "Please check the server IP and port in the config". Once I have changed the port, it starts perfectly.
This happens again when I shut down the server.

Please help
Thanks

Which OS is your server using?

There's a number of ways to determine which program is associated with a port. For example, netstats -b (for Windows command line). Google online for ways to find out which port is in use, as different OS have different methods.

It could be that one of your program is constantly trying to use one of your server port. Or maybe your SFS didn't shut down properly?

Hi,
I am using Windows Server 2003 and it looks like SFS only is using the port. It happens everytime, and, as I said, when I change the port and then restart the server this still happens.
Thanks

I'm confused. You said that you change the port then restart the server. So are you doing something like this:

1. Launch SFS on, say.. port 443
2. Modify config.xml by changing the port to 9339
3. Restart server via AdminTool

?

I tried this, and I got:

Code: Select all

07:21:51.156 - [ WARNING ] > Generic Exception in acceptNewConnections():java.ni
o.channels.ClosedSelectorException
java.nio.channels.ClosedSelectorException
        at sun.nio.ch.SelectorImpl.selectedKeys(SelectorImpl.java:57)
        at it.gotoandplay.smartfoxserver.SmartFoxServer.acceptNewConnections(Sma
rtFoxServer.java:705)
        at it.gotoandplay.smartfoxserver.SmartFoxServer.run(SmartFoxServer.java:
651)

but none of the "Please check the server IP and port in the config" message.

I start the server as normal by double clicking the start.bat file. In the config the port is something like 9339. If I restart my VPS, I have to change the port in the config to something different in order for SFS To start.

Thanks

Is this on your VPS or locally?

What if you shut down SFS prior to restarting VPS? It could be possible that restarting VPS did not terminate the old instance of SFS..

I close SFS before restarting the VPS.
And yes, it is on my VPS.
