Ok, I made an extention, and when I call it, it returns data back to my onExtensionResponse function just fine. This is when it's set to 'xml'. However if i set the extention response to 'str' it doesn't trigger onExtensionResponse at all - why is this? We can't reproduce the problem. Are you sure ...

You can't set the userId. The server assigns them and uses them to track users. The mechanism is similar to what you whant to do but the server assigns and releases ids on each new client session. The db id can be assigned to the user by storing it in the User (object) properties hashmap( or diction...

The installer was not able to copy all the necessary files or you deleted those files by accident. It seems you're missing the wrapper config file. At this point I don't understand what's going on. 1- you should install the server as a user with enough write privileges. If any error appears during i...

Both UserVariables and RoomVariables live in the server memory. If you shut it down, the data will be lost. You can persist those values on both client and server. Client : by using client side SharedObject Server : by using a custom SmartFoxServer extension. From there you can store the data to a f...

You're right, I believe that without a bit of MXML it would be near to impossible to achieve that, or at least it would be a big pain :( The UI components are based on the Flex framework that is initialized by the opening MXML tags and that provide a lot of services behind the scenes. Anyways it's q...

of course, at least have a working Java installation now you should copy the bin/ folder of your working JRE to your SmartFoxServer installation directory. cp -R path-to-java/bin/ path-to-sfs/jre/ and try starting the server with: ./sfs start p.s. = make sure files are overwritten. If you are unsure...

okay.
The main problem is that you don't seem to be able run the JVM.
Try downloading the latest runtime version for Linux from here -> www.java.com and tell us if you are able to start it.
Once this works it will be easy to launch SmartFoxServer
