Hello, it seems that some people is still having problems when connecting to an external server where SmartFoxServer is running. The problem IS NOT related directly with SmartFoxServer but with the Flash Player security restrictions , and we can't do anything about it, but suggest some nice solution...

The problem is related with the Flash Player security restrictions... Please read chapter 3.1 of the online docs >> http://www.smartfoxserver.com/docs/ Add this line to the config.xml: <AutoSendPolicyFile>true</AutoSendPolicyFile> in the <ServerSetup></ServerSetup> block to have the crossdomain file...

Hi, the Lite version does not support the auto-policy thing but you can put the crossdomain.xml file in the root fo your webserver and the problem is solved. About telnetting the server that's ok, the server does not send any information upon connection so if you telnet the server and you get connec...

Since it's a card game and I guess it will be turn-based I guess you could handle many thousands of them on a g...

Hi, about security I can certainly agree that using server side extensions can enhance the degree of protection you can achieve in your games. By keeping all the important informations on the server side (score, settings, game data etc...) and by validating all the client requests its way more diffi...

SmartFoxServer PRO bits part 2

Hello, while we're finishing the final bits of SmartFoxServer PRO, we'd like to share some previews of what you will find with the server side extensions. We mentioned in the last "teaser" that SFS PRO comes with an Actionscript framework for writing your server side logic. For more advanced program...

installing java in your webspace would be fine!

An alternative would be that the administrator creates a symbolic link in your space to the java executable so that you can run it

If not, what your provider said is wrong... :(

Re: Just a few questions... (mostly about rooms)

Hello kipsta, welcome in our board :) How many users can one room hold? In the config file it says "maxusers (default = no limit). However, when I run the server, the console window says "max users = 40". Is this a restriction on the free version of SFS Basic? Does the full version allow truly unlim...

Hi, yep Java is probably installed but the command "java" is not recognized because it is not available from everywhere. (The shell should be informed in its variables, but that's another story) Do you know how to create a symbolc link under Linux/Unix? Java is usually located in /usr/java/j2re1.4.2...
