When a user connects to SFS and joins a room.... and that room uses a zone extension... behind the scenes, does a new thread get started for that user? Or does only one thread get started for the zone no matter how many users are connected? Of course not! :) If the server would create a new...

You could use 2 approaches: 1- A new Zone for each game. This means that for each game the user will have to login in a different Zone 2- A single Zone for all games. This way you login once then choose which game to play. I only ask because I want the most efficient way of doing things. If someone ...

can an extension call a function within another extension? Generally speaking no. It could be don in Java, and yes it could be done also in AS 1 but we discourage doing so. Using more extensions for the same task can lead to problems with events etc... It's usually better to always one extension on...

Sorry, but I can't reproduce the problem. The extension works as it should :) Very simple question: when the server starts and creates the room, you should see the output of the trace in the init() method. Do you at least see that? Are you sure the <Extension> block is inside the <Room> definition?

Since you're using a string as the key for your array the best to way achieve that is to simply check for the existence of the object inside the array // Check that the value was initialized if (scores[username] == undefined) scores[username] = 0 scores[username].score += 10

yep, I think it's okay.
A better way would be:

Code: Select all

delete scores[username]

When I look at the DOS prompt where the server is running, it says: Problens parsing source room ID for Action: asObj >java.lang.NumberFormatExecption: For input string : "null" This is because you're not yet logged in a room. It's important to understand that a user must be inside at least one roo...

Yep, that's not possible. You can however bypass the SFS indexing system if you wish to. You could catch the event of the user entering in the game room and assign him an arbitrary ID. However the automatic indexing that SFS does should help by avoiding you the need of implementing such system. It a...

We don't provide a specific method for this in our server side framework. However I can suggest a workaround, but you will need to use version 1.4.0 ( check the beta here -> http://www.smartfoxserver.com/download/beta/ ) - you can call the getCreator() on any Room object on the server side (extensio...

Does the executeCommand returns false only when the querry fails or also when 0 rows where affected? How is SFS supposed to work? It's not much a problem with SFS here. It's more with how the database and driver return responses about the operations they do. Sorry if answer a question with another ...

It seems to work from here, but the crossdomain policy file is not activated.
Please read this -> http://www.smartfoxserver.com/docs/docP ... basics.htm

and add:

Code: Select all

<AutoSendPolicyFile>true</AutoSendPolicyFile>

to your config.xml

It seems you're router is well configured.
Is the server always up? Let me know when it is and I will do another remote test

Of course you don't need to use that method. You can just store any game information/variable in a list or object and then send the update back to the client. Suppose your game is handled by a Zone-Level estension, you will probably have a list of active rooms/games gameList = [] when a new game is ...
