Do you think it also would be possible to run smartfox on a Flash Lite 2 enabled mobile phone?

humm, I don't think so.
The Lite player does not support the XMLSocket object, so the only way to create a multiplayer-like interaction is to use the polling technique

I am proud to say that I have taken the SimpleConnect demo, resized it to be more "friendly" for a handheld, and published.

It WORKS!!!

Cool! :D

thanks for sharing the experiment

As I mentioned binary transfers are not possibile, it's a limitation of the flash player. It only allows to transfer strings terminated by a 0x00 byte You could encode the file in base64, which allows to encode a binary file in a text file. It's the same technique used in emails to transfer attachme...

nay, you can't do that on the client side.
The reason is that you don't have the full list of all users in all rooms available... you only keep the user list of the room(s) that you joined.

Keeping the full list of users on the client side would be an overkill

You will need to use an extension

Hello and welcome, 1.- I have doubts about security on transmisions. The socket packets are encrypted or so? Or they are send as XML plain text? No, for a number of reasons: 1- too much overhead, if used for fast messages / realtime, especially on client side 2- not necessary in most cases. What's i...

It seems that you're using a modem/router, am I wrong? The problem is that you can't specify the IP of your modem, because the server is not installed on your modem/router, it's on your PC :) This is not a problem of SFS but it's the operating system complaining that it can't bind the server to an I...

No, there isn't a direct method to do so. However you cycle through all the available rooms in the Zone and call the getAllUsers() method, which returns an array of users. The array returned is not an Actionscript array, but a Java array. This doesn't change things too much, but a Java array does no...

For the moment those messages are not customizable. We'll probably soon add the ability to localize them. I can suggest you a workaround for now. Let's say the onJoinRoomError event is fired, and the error message is "The room is full" just check for that string and output the translated v...

You can put in your startup folder a shortcut that would oppen a php script on your server and rewrite the html on each restart so that the IP string is the same as your IP.

Cool 8)

SmartFoxServer is Flash 8 compatible. The problem I see is that you're running a very old version. Your API are version 0.8.0, while the most recent are version 1.0.2 Make sure you're using the latest version. Also, if you have troubles with installing a new version of the API over the old one using...

there's no need to take such drastic measures :) The drops can be easily solved by checking the bandwidth usage or optimizing your code. What type of application/game did you develop? A turn based game? A realtime one? If it's realtime what's the rate at which you're sending data? And what type of d...
