electro works because it incorporates the entire Sun Java Runtime inside its folders. So you actually have it on your hard disk. :) If you go inside the electro folders I believe you'll find a folder called JRE or similar. That's the Sun JRE (Java Runtime Edition). You could use that to run SFS Basi...

oh my! what's all that!?  :) I've never seen such a long error message for just asking the system to run java... What kind of operating system are you using?? It looks like your OS comes with an "alternative" java distribution, maybe the GNU version, called gcj. Anyways SmartF...

ok, it is clear. We have done something very similar to that in our SmartChat , you can check it here >> http://www.gotoandplay.it/_games/playGame.php?g=102 I don't understand your joining system however :) Usually a chat is made of many rooms, not just one otherwise it's going to be very difficult ...

Hello, I am sorry about this. It seems that the RoomVariable class is not explained in the docs. :? I've added it in our to-do list and we'll update the documentation in the next release. :) What you have done so far is right: _server.getCurrentRoom().getVariable("myVar") Y...

Sorry I am not following you... Could you explain this a little bit better, please?

Thanks :)

You should read the installation docs
The problem is that you haven't installed the API for Flash... so Flash complains that it doesn't find the files he need to export the SWF

read here >> http://www.smartfoxserver.com/docs/
chapter 1.3

The example should work perfectly after you have installed the server, unless you have changed some settings. Typically, on a Windows machine, you install the package, launch the server and test the examples. They all work using the localhost address. I need more info on your settings in order to te...

The user hasn't joined the room yet.
Can I access the users in a room without joining the room?

No, you won't receive those notifications if you aren't logged in the room.
However you can receive room events on the server side using an extension at Zone Level. (using SmartFoxServer PRO)

Are you using the latest SFS PRO 1.2.5 ?

The reason of that problem was discussed in another thread >> viewtopic.php?t=97

The examples coming with version 1.2.5 use a better event handling sequence and got rid of that issue.

I think you have inadvertedly modified the server core settings. Open the config.xml and look for these tags: <OutQueueThreads>1</OutQueueThreads> By default you should always use 1 It represents the number of threads that will work on the output data queue. The default settings is great for all sin...

Actually it is not in our immediate plans... This is more of a personal consideration: Actionscript 1.0 is a very productive language, it allows to quickly test a code prototype and from there writing the real application without having to deal with too many OOP conventions. There's no strict typing...

I would just make it clear in the documentation that you have to wait for onRoomListUpdate event to trigger autoJoin() and that it cannot be called directly from the onLogin event. Yeah! I will definately add a new article with the next release that shows the code template for a basic SmartFoxServe...

beate, I still don't get why they don't work for you. Specifically I'd like you to provide us the full code of an example that shows the problem. I've been working with the API 1.0 for a long time and used them in the SmartChat which extensively uses UserVariables without problems. If the code is to...
