Wow--there's no way to toggle the private room status after creation? Can you please put that in an upcoming patch? That's a pretty big missing feature IMHO. I'll use your workaround until then though.

Making rooms private from inside the room extension?

Switching a dynamic room to private inside room extension--possible?

I'd like to have the room extension make its room private...but I don't seem to see a way to do that. Can I just modify the "isPrivate" property directly?

Oh also I just tried it with the deprecated setVariable method and that doesn't broadcast it either. (rvNumFloor is the room variable I'm changing--I get that variable before this code executes) ++nFloor; String sType = rvNumFloor.getType(); m_Helper.setRoomVariable(userRoom, null, "...

Hmm I changed it to use SetVariables and it still doesn't broadcast the change to the clients. Am I not using the hashmap correctly? Here's the code shippet: ++nFloor; String sType = rvNumFloor.getType(); userRoom.deleteVariable("f", rvNumFloor.getOwner()); userRoom...

Here you go--originally I didn't have the deletevariable, but I added it while I was trying to figure out how to force it to send out the message. Thus I used the values for private, persistent, user, etc. from the old variable as arguments to set the variable. I tried filling my own in here to make...

updating room vars from extension -- client is not seeing it

Is there a trick to getting updated room vars reflected in the client? I have this one room var I update in the extension code upon getting a message from the client. But the client isn't getting the roomvariablesupdate message. So when I check the roomvars, it's still the old value from before the ...

Yeah this is why I'm trying to avoid any sort of premium paid items in my flash stuff--it's not secure and can be hacked by motivated people. I wish that they had a Flash Certified option or something where you could digitally sign your SWF and the server could verify it hasn't been modified somehow.

BTW--when might you have this workaround? I'll put off my tasks related to features that need uservars until you patch it or whatever you have in mind.

Yeah that's cool--worst case is I was going to use a room variable. It's just more of a pain in the ass because I have to do a little weirdness in my java plug in code.

Oh yeah yeah I see what you're saying--you mean a "sanity check". Yeah I'm going to build that into my protocol after I hit alpha. Just a few simple cheat checks basically.

I thought you had some other technique to verify whether the client sending the request is an authorized client.

Well right now my game is set up so that each user is connected to a main lobby and a private game room. If I create a game room and create a user variable--the next person who joins crashes out because "currUser" in "handleUserVarsUpdate" is null. (I assume it's sending all the ...

I'm having this same problem, the currUser in handleUserVarsUpdate is null. So it is impossible to use uservars if your'e connected to more than one room? That kinda sucks.
