Great, I look forward to your response about this issue. I'm also waiting to hear details regarding the severe issue I emailed involving the destruction of static rooms that should never be destroyed. We're still experiencing that problem, although my workaround is holding strong for the time-being.

The Remove ban by username button fails in the AdminTool

Hello, We're running the latest version of SFS (1.6.7) on our server. I'm running version 1.4.0 of the Remote Administration tool (AdminTool.swf). We recently attempted to use the "Remove" button within the Ban Manager tab to remove banned users by username from our banned user list. After...

populateVariables trace

Hi,

There appears to be a trace that was left on within the SysHandler.as file. If you want to turn it off, just comment out line 975 of the SysHandler.as file.

Lapo, Thanks for the reply. I'm almost certain it has to do with ghost users due to poor disconnects, etc. Somehow these users are hanging certain rooms and causing the above problems. It doesn't sound like you're on "a bit of a vacation" if you were able to reply on the forums? ... It sou...

This is fairly vague, but disconnects are possible for a number of reasons. First, The config file contains some settings involving disconnects. You'll want to read about these settings here, in section 2.1: http://www.smartfoxserver.com/docs/ <MaxSocketIdleTime> <MaxUserIdleTime> We also send small...

Ghost Rooms Causing Join Room Failures

Hello, Our game has grown rapidly over the past few months, and we're nearly ready to upgrade to the unlimited license as we have several hundred concurrent users at this point. But along with more users comes more problems. We've encountered a recurring problem regarding joining a room. In our syst...

Resolved Turns out this was in fact related to the update mentioned above. Our config file did not bind all available ip addresses using this line: <ServerId>*</ServerIp> Instead, our config was hard-coded to use only the ip address of our server (this was a leftover from an earlier version of SFS)...

IpFilter prevents the addition of several NPCs

Hello, I'm going to continue researching this one, but I haven't found a workaround just yet. Our config.xml file contains: <IpFilter>3</IpFilter> We are unable to create more than 3 NPCs before we receive null object errors. The obvious solution is to simply remove the IpFilter, but we would prefer...

Just to provide some closure to this topic, we've discovered several problems after purchasing a few books and doing some serious reading ... Many of the symptoms I had identified above were only consequences of the real problem > poor optimization across several server-side systems. The buddy list ...

Correct, the entire server hangs as I mentioned in the very first post of this thread: Our live server has completely crashed for the second time. By crash I mean that the server becomes completely unavailable. I can not ping it, it no longer serves pages, the forums become inaccessible, and SFS ent...

Unless you are starting SmartFoxServer as the root user I would say that this is impossible. In fact there's no way that a non-root user can elevate the permissions of a file or directory to the root user. We have in fact been starting SFS as the root user. Is this a bad practice? I just assumed th...

Problem Update: The server has crashed again and just like before, the logs contain the same "Permission Denied" error. Fortunately there is some new information this time. After checking the ownership of the __sfsfile__ files, it turns out that the __sfscore__ files do in fact become own...
