Re: problems with BlueBox and the Unity API

This isn't a first person shooter but it's not turned based either. It's more of a virtual world type deal. I'm fine with the slower rate and some lag I just don't want the stutter. It seems like there is more overhead encoding for bluebox? Is there anything else I can do to tune this? I also get a ...

Re: problems with BlueBox and the Unity API

I played with the rate even setting it to half a second but it would still produce big spikes in the profiler and cause stutter.

problems with BlueBox and the Unity API

So I'm using some of the FPS tutorial code and trying it with Bluebox. Something about sending transform updates bogs down Unity heavily. After spending some time in the unity profiler it looks like the something in the client API uses tons of CPU time when switching to BlueBox. Sending an Extension...

Re: sending Transforms with BlueBox

Ok after spending some time looking at this it looks like the something in the client API uses tons of CPU time when switching to BlueBox. Sending an ExtensionRequest without bluebox: 2% CPU Sending an ExtensionRequest WITH bluebox: 98% CPU not sure what I can do about this :( you all just waiting f...

sending Transforms with BlueBox

So when I have a bluebox connection my transform sender ( like theUnity fps example) pegs out the Unity profiler at 95% for that script. It behaves much more reasonably when a socket connection is made. I'm guessing this is because the default rate is at a tenth of a second which is too fast for blu...

Re: unable to create rooms

Looks like a restart fixed things. Thanks for the reply.

unable to create rooms

I'm having a problem with bluebox and creating room instances. Whenever I connect normally over a socket the rooms are created as normal. Rooms established in the zone file load fine with bluebox connections but for some reason it won't create ones or at least join them. Anyone know what might cause...

Re: Help! Firewall headaches

Hmm, unfortunately this isn't the end of my troubles. Now i have to deal with flash and their new policy file changes as well. It doesn't look like you can change the port from 843 with flash, and the crossdomain file off a webserver doesn't give access to sockets. It mentions in the docs "SFS2...

Re: Help! Firewall headaches

Yeah I know I can change both of those I'm just wondering more of what commonly open ports might be good alternatives. Am I right in thinking that 8080 is not an option if you want to use bluebox and the admin panel?

Help! Firewall headaches

I'm trying to get our Unity/SFS 2X app working for a client but they block Port 843 and 9933. So bluebox should take care of 9933 but what should I do for 843 and the crossdomain policy file? I was thinking of using 8080 but it looks like jetty uses that. Anyone have any suggestions?

I've been wondering this too. Is there any plans to add this functionality to the API now that Unity 3.5 finally has mic and web cam support?
