I am proud to say that I have taken the SimpleConnect demo, resized it to be more "friendly" for a handheld, and published. It WORKS!!! Lapo, this is awesome! This brings a whole new realm to my site! Now... I wonder how Flash Lite 2 does... I'll keep working with the pocket pc version... ...

I've been a member for years at this site. They've tested a lot of it out, and shown some of the limits. My main question was if SmartFox would work.

I'll set about testing this right away. :)

EDIT: Found the other interesting post.

Flash Player 7 Mobile

Any chance that SmartFoxServer could run with the Flash Player 7 Mobile version? This could be very cool, but I can't tell how much API it's friendly with. I have a feeling you know pretty well, Lapo, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. :)

What version of SmartFox are you running and what edition (Lite, Basic, Pro)?

The answer is yes and no. When you let me know what you have, I'll be able to share my knowlege. Otherwise, hold on the line and Lapo will be with you shortly, I'm sure. 8)

You're creating a local app then? Nothing that goes over the internet? Lapo was very smart with his code and everytime a user has lost a connection to my server, the user is disconnected nicely. I even get the events for a user leaving the room. (I think that's the one). Here are a few of my experie...

2) Set a flag on all clients. A UserVariable, like you suggested. I don't see wy it should be a waste of bandwidth. Unless you plan to continuosly mute and un-mute hundreds of clients, I don't see the bandwidth problem. You corrected his problem with bandwidth in part 1, but I'd just like to mentio...

Just update the file directly and then restart the server. If you have to use SSH or such, let me know.

Thank you for the simple extension editor! It's great! (Now if you could just start and stop them with in the same window... What can I say, I'm lazy! And yes, I know, there are (possibly) different instances of a extension in different rooms and zones so having a generic start-stop button wo...

This could be done with a serverside extension. Here's the logic: Owner's client sends a message with the user that's being a bug's username to a serverside extension. The extension checks to see if message sender is the owner of the room the message was sent from. The extension moves the user out o...

I think he's saying it would be nice if the COULD keep their ID. Yes, you're right Virus, it's unique on every log in, but he wants it to keep this across logins.

Now, I can see a way to do this with user variables, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Mail host has to be like a smtp server or something. If you use a program like Microsoft Outlook (Express) to use that email account, check your settings and look for the SMTP server. Use that under MailHost. Otherwise, it looks right.

Well, yes and no. (Correct me if I'm wrong, though.) Users are a data object. Yes, on serverside, it handles connection information, but clientside, you can't find it's IP, ping time, etc. For the most part, it is just a data object. Variables are stored in it, such as position, color, etc. It gets ...

Why not consider them users? In my case, they ARE basically users. They'll have the same variables, look the same, move the same, most the stuff is the same. Only difference is, the server controlls them completely.
