Re: Unexplained disconnect

Yes, I agree in the localhost it is very strange. :? Also the number of connections (20-50) is very low and should be of no concern. Unfortunately I can't provide further help without more data. If you are familiar with Wireshark you could capture the traffic between NPCs and the server. It may prov...

Re: Unexplained disconnect

Hello
it sounds like a local connection issue of some sort because SFS2X is not reporting and "idle client" error, or manual disconnection.
Have you checked the client side for errors?

How many NPCs does this local app generate?

Thanks

Re: Login failed - session is already expired

Hi, the " session is already expired " error happens when Users take too much time logging in and the Session expires. There is a global setting under AdminTool > Server Settings that controls the maximum idle time of a Session. By default it is 20 seconds. I'd recommend to use a value < 6...

Re: How to get the number of times a user has joined a given room?

Hi, there is no pre-built functionality like the one you have described. There are couple of ways like maintaining a userId->count map in room variable/session and update it on user join room event. It's a good idea, but there can be side effects. If Rooms are persistent (i.e. they are never removed...

Re: how to setup logger in client

As regards the difference between Java and other API (C#, Javascript) in terms of logging: in Java we used an existing and popular framework called SLF4J (https://www.slf4j.org/) which is a logging abstraction, allowing to plugin your favorite logging libraries. In other languages such as C# and JS ...

Re: Extension response will ignore if the sfsobject param contains curly brackets

Hi, I am sorry I did not receive a notification for your post. :( The API version can be printed out by calling sfs.getVersion() where sfs is an instance of the main SmartFox class. The above example is in Java. In C# you have: sfs.Version and Javascript: sfs.version Again, apologies for the delay

Re: decompressing compressed SFSObjects

Hi,
why would you need to do it manually, when it's already done for you by the client API?

Cheers

Re: SFS2X Not Binding 8443

Yes, unfortunately with the proliferation of different JDKs from different vendors we have seen a couple issues here and there. I would not expect this sort of problem with the same major version of the JDK, so this is new to me. If I remember correctly we had a similar problem when creating the key...

Re: how to setup logger in client

Hi, the line of code you have posted allows you to catch the API messages that would normally be sent to the browser's console so you can redirect them elsewhere. I've checked the Java API and it looks like this type of event is not supported there, though I am not sure why. I'll investigate with my...

Re: Server connection

Hi, if you're trying to connect to your home PC, you will likely need to configure your router before you'll be able to reach it. This is because your PC is not directly connected to the internet, but rather your modem/router is. I'd recommend reading the documentation here: http://docs2x.smartfoxse...

Re: SFS2X Not Binding 8443

Hi, generally speaking it does sound strange since we've been actively using Ubuntu 20.x on dozens of test machines, and we've never seen any port binding issues. SFS2X reports the status of port binding in the logs/boot/boot.log for both TCP and UDP. However this is only a yes/no type of reporting ...

Re: how to setup logger in client

Hi, you have linked a page of our Javascript documentation but you're referring to Java tools and libraries such as maven and log4J2... so what is the client technology you're using? The Java API come with a basic logger which is the "Simple logger" implementation provided by SFL4J. You co...

Re: SFS2X Not Binding 8443

Hi, what version of SFS2X are you using? And what OS? Is it a physical server or virtual? (vps?, docker?) I'd suggest testing with a simple telnet test: telnet localhost 8443 this at least will tell you if the port is bound on the loopback interface, which is typically not affected by any firewalls....

Re: Tomcat equivalent of jetty.ssl.host

I see. By default Tomcat will bind port 8443 which doesn't conflict with your other http server. I guess you're implying that Tomcat should also use port 443 for HTTPS? I suppose I can stay on 2.13 if it's not supported on Tomcat. No problem. It is supported, take a look here: https://stackoverflow....

Re: Tomcat equivalent of jetty.ssl.host

Normally you don't need to manually configure the server, even in the case of two NICs.
Tomcat (and SFS2X) will bind both.

Cheers
