Can RedBox stream MP3 files?

Postby macrotools » 02 Dec 2008, 07:26

Hi everyone,

I use Redbox for several weeks to record A/V data.

I have to make a mp3 player which streams files from a folder randomly,
can Redbox stream mp3 files which are not recorded by itself?

Thanks

Flash can do that without using the RedBox. It does it since Flash Player 6 ;)

Yes, the RedBox supports mp3 streaming, just like Flash Media Server

Ok, I think it is enough to get the mp3 file as a clip and use getStream() method to construct a netStream.

But the fact is that I put the mp3 file into the streams folder, but it does not appear in the clips list?

Could you give some information how to locate the mp3 files to make them appear in the list?

Actually Red5 supports mp3 streaming, but not the RedBox classes. The AVClipManager class only manages flv files: the list of available flv files is generated by the RedBox extension on the server side, and sent to the client. You can edit the extension code so that it is able to "see" the mp3 files instead of flv files and everything should work.

Thank you for your detailed information bax.

I've decompiled the java classes and got what you mean.

Editing file extenion filters seem to work.

Sources are included!! :o :D No need to decompile anything
Just go in your Server/javaExtensions folder and extract the sources from the RedBoxExtension.zip file

Ok Lapo I've found sources.

As SFS java extension sources located at the same location as classes, I thought Redbox sources are not included.

By the way, sometimes people need urgent information and don't have time for research. If this person is a customer of you, I think you could behave more polite ;)

The answer is as simple as above. If you gave an answer like this in your first reply, you would be faster than Flash Gordon :)

I often feel uncomfortable about your reply style (not only for my questions). Please take this as a public opinion for statistics, etc.

If you feel yourself comfortable, than sorry it could be me who misunderstood.

Honestly, I already responded to your PM five seconds before and found the same question here again. You know how I feel about double posting etc... ;) Plus it doesn't help to post everywhere in hope to expedite the request, it simply gets a little annoying.

If you are a paying customer (we can't know from the nickname) you can simply drop us an email directly if it's an urgent case, we never leave someone without a response.
