[NEW] Binary Javascript API

Postby Lapo » 04 May 2017, 13:50

With the release of SmartFoxServer 2X 2.13 we're launching an improved support for HTML5 websocket via Jetty web-server and with a redesigned client API that fully supports the SFS2X binary protocol.

This changes a number of things for HTML5/Websocket applications so have created a specific migration page for anyone running an HTML5 or Unity/WebGL project.

You will still be able to run your current application without changes to your code, provided you make sure to learn what has changed on the server side and how to setup websockets correctly.

Before you update to SFS2X 2.13 make sure to review our websocket migration page in our documentation.

Finally the older (legacy) Javascript API will be maintained in terms of bug fixes but they won't receive any new update as regards new features. Developers interested in developing HTML5 games in Javascript should start learning and working with the new API coming with this release.

Download the new Javascript API w/ binary protocol here.

Also make sure to download the new HTML5 Example pack here:
http://smartfoxserver.com/download/sfs2x#p=examples

The pack includes a port of our real-time SpaceWar game for HTML5/Javascript, using the latest binary Javascript API.
