Multi-server scaling

Hiya, I just wondered if anyone has any experience scaling SFS2X over multiple servers? Our Malaysian sister company is interested in rolling out our multiplayer games, and they have a user base of 10 million, so our single box solution isn't going to work for them. Is it possible to deploy to multi...

Re: Can't remote administrate server?

We have changed the port to 80, we were getting too many problems with our clients (mostly schools) not being able to support traffic on any port other than 80 and 443. We've got two IP addresses in the same box though, so SFS2X has a dedicated IP of it's own, the webserver should be running on 80 a...

Re: Can't remote administrate server?

Hi Lapo, Right I've just upgraded our server to 2.6.0 as recommended. This installed fine and everything looks to be working to the same extent it was before. I'm still getting the bind issue as before though: 27 Aug 2013 | 11:29:26,400 | INFO | main | v2.core.AdminToolService | | AdminTool Service ...

Re: Can't remote administrate server?

Hi Lapo, Thanks for your continuing help on this. Yes, we're running the server as root. We're running an older version of the server, I believe 2.0.1. Is there an easy way to update this without effecting config files and current setup (since it's working for my users and I clearly don't know enoug...

Re: Can't remote administrate server?

I'm kinda stabbing in the dark here, as I say linux isn't my forte, but I've just run "netstat --tcp --listening --program" to find out what's listening on what ports. Our second IP address only appears twice, once with :http and once with :https as the ports, and both ports are linked to ...

Re: Can't remote administrate server?

Hi Lapo, Thanks for the response, sorry about the huge delay, priorities got changed and our multiplayer side was just left to its own devices. However I now need to do some more work on it and am still hitting the same issue. In answer to your question the log in the admin tool just says: [10:43:08...

Can't remote administrate server?

Hi, Quick question, our ISP just changed so our IP address has changed. Tried to login to the SFS2X admin panel and it quite rightly told me I wasn't on the list of valid IPs. So I logged into the server, edited config/server.xml to include our IP in the list of allowedRemoteAddresses, restarted the...

Re: My users can't connect

Hi Lapo, thanks for the response. Hopefully this is just me getting myself tangled in knots. Our current server setup is: apache running on 80 for http, 443 for ssl. Then sfs2x running 8080 for http and 9933 for socket. Which I presume is standard for single server installs? A lot of our clients are...

Re: My users can't connect

Unfortunately most of our users will have port 80 closed, their http ports tend to be reassigned to other random ports. Which is the cause for my concern. I'm going to nudge as many as I can to open the socket for us, but it won't happen for all and can't be relied upon. I'll keep an eye on the spee...

Re: My users can't connect

Hi again. Right I've got a bit further, thanks. I've been able to force BlueBox to connect if I manually specify to do so, and it now seems to be falling back correctly to http if the socket doesn't work. Which is brilliant and is exactly what I need! The only last problem now is down to almost all ...

Re: My users can't connect

I've read the first thirty or so pages of search results for "bluebox" but I'm struggling to find a solution. I did have a look at the one you mentioned, but it doesn't seem to be quite the same as mine. Their error seems to be generated by the BlueBox instance, mine just comes straight ba...

Re: My users can't connect

Hi. Yes I'm running 2.0.1, I installed it a couple of weeks ago before we started our testing, just to make sure if I had problems they weren't entirely self inflicted :)

Thanks,
Si

Re: My users can't connect

Right spent the last three hours hammering against this one, reading through the forum posts and trying to figure out what's going on. I think it's the way I've set up (or not) BlueBox. Am I right in thinking to check if BlueBox is working I can just edit my sfs-config.xml and specify an invalid por...

Re: My users can't connect

Hi, thanks for the reply. We've done lots of tests from various machines and locations, it's just this customer's firewalled network which is the issue hence my fixation with it being a firewall problem. Our system is a massive convolution of flash files so I'm not sure how to share just the pertine...

My users can't connect

Hi folks, Another stumbling block I'm afraid. I've got my server up and running, we've had multiple tests internally (from a different network) and it all works fine. I've now got one of our customers trying to test it with us, but they can't get a connection to the server. I think I'm struggling to...
