Re: Prevent Smartfox from DDOS

If you don't know how to setup a firewall it would be best to ask for consulting to your hosting provider.
You can talk to them and explain that you've been DDoS-ed and they should be able to see what's going on and help you filtering the malicious traffic.

Let us know how it goes

Re: Unmapped extension request handler

The consequence is simply an error telling you that no such handler exists. As to hogging the thread pool... maybe it would be possible with 1000s of clients. I mean, every DDoS works the same at its core, and of course there are multiple ways to protect the server from those attacks. Using a firewa...

Re: Prevent Smartfox from DDOS

Hi,
typically, to mitigate a DDoS, you will have to setup a firewall.
If the attack is only directed at SFS2X you can configure the IP filter to disallow mass connections from the same IP address. However the best protection is always via firewall.

Hope it helps

Re: Simulate a Chunk System with the server AOI ?

Yes, it should work.
The area of interest works with both 2D and 3D maps. You can start learning about the AOI here:

Hope it helps

Re: [Newbie Question] How do i send the position of my Player to the other clients ?

Hi, you can use User Variables, which are custom values attached to each player that you can use to transmit state, position etc... I would highly recommend downloading our Example Packs for the language you're using: http://smartfoxserver.com/download/sfs2x#p=examples And follow the relative tutori...

Re: Potential memory leak in websocket

UPDATE: I've run a simulation with 600 CCU running fast websocket messages and disconnecting and re-connecting them after a 50 message cycle. This way a lot of sessions gets created and destroyed. Also I forced the heap size to 180MB to see how the GC behaves. Monitoring the heap state doesn't show...

Re: Potential memory leak in websocket

Thanks. I am not sure to interpret the data, though. The diagrams are showing that a certain amount of heap is used by jetty classes, but I am not sure why this should be considered a leak. What software are you using to create those graphs? Are you monitoring the state of the JVM memory? You can do...

Re: Disconnection not fired

Just to understand, how many timers (or tasks) does a single Room need at one time?
Thanks

Re: Disconnection not fired

I am not sure what this code is supposed to do. Is it supposed to delay the response by waiting for some time? I feel like your problem is caused by how you're managing all these tasks. Especially because you seem to keep a reference to a task for every Room but what happens when multiple users call...

Re: Disconnection not fired

Another strange thing I noticed in your logs is some thread names such as "pool-19-thread-1577885".
By the look of it, it seems you're running many thread pools or maybe Schedulers? With an awful lot of threads.

Can you clarify how do you use threads in your server side code?

Re: Disconnection not fired

Sorry, I am not sure I understand your question.
Server side events will not interrupt your code flow. They run on a separate thread and are handled by the objects you have specified via the addEventHandler() method.

Maybe you can clarify what you mean?
Thanks

Re: [Server stop after 1 day]

Hi,
I don't have enough info to understand what might have happened.
Does this happen every time you start the server or did it occur once?

In any case I don't think the error is connected to the server not responding.

Cheers

Re: help||Editing single line in txt file (on extension .as)

Hi,
you can do that by loading the text file in memory, change the line and saving the file again.
To change the content of a specific line you can use string manipulation functions.

Cheers
