Re: Guide: How to compile a .jar file for your extension

Hi,
the JavaSE version is fine for developing with SFS2X.
The other stuff can be useful if you plan to develop for those platforms, otherwise it will just take more installation space.

Cheers

Re: SSL not working on Android version 4.x.x

Hi, by looking at the error transcript it seems that the device does not support the correct version of the SSL protocol. If this is the case I don' think there's much else that can be done. Also this article that you have provided seems to explain the problem: https://developer.ibm.com/answers/ques...

Re: Changing a room's group ID to a previously unused ID

Hi, the group is assigned at creation time, but you can't change it after the Room has been created. I read an old thread mentioning that group IDs are added when rooms are created. Is this still the only way of adding groups programmatically? Correct. You create a Room and assign it to a group. Che...

Re: A tutorial on importing Unity Terrain or Talking to Unity Client for Collision Information

Well, I am using System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary.BinaryFormatter and it can only handle classes annotated with [System.Serializable], which unfortunately, Vector3 & co. are not. For this, you can provide something called an ISerializationSurrogate , which does the same as your su...

Re: A tutorial on importing Unity Terrain or Talking to Unity Client for Collision Information

I will try to extract the stuff into a GIT project with extension and Unity demo scene. I will keep you up to date, of course. Cool thanks. We'll be glad to take a look when it's available. Maybe we could make a tutorial about it, or something along those lines. By the way, native byte serializatio...

Re: I am running SFS2x at close network(Offline)

Hi,
sorry the question is not clear.

For starters you seem to have forgotten to include the code you're using. Also if you're having problems creating a Room, check your server side logs for errors and post them here.

Thanks

Re: User data from website to launcher to game

Hi,
take a look at this article:
http://smartfoxserver.com/blog/integrat ... foxserver/

It should give you an idea on how to implement the login system.
If there's anything unclear let me know.

Hope it helps

Re: Chat / Message channels

So from what I understand, a user can only have one buddy list? Yes, that's correct. In my game, I plan on still having a friends / buddy list where players can friend anyone from any team. Parties are just small groups that random players from the same team can join. I see. Well then creating a de...

Re: A tutorial on importing Unity Terrain or Talking to Unity Client for Collision Information

Thanks,
this is very interesting. It is generic enough to work in many different game types. Well done :)

If you want, keep us updated: we're interested in integrating something like this (at least in terms of "scaffolding") in SFS2X, to simplify this kind of work for Unity devs.

Re: Chat / Message channels

Hi, there can be different ways to create this kind of interaction. Generally speaking MMORooms work by sending events to players within user's AoI (area of interest), so you would not be able to chat with team members if, for instance, they are scattered in the game map and outside your view/AoI. A...

Re: A tutorial on importing Unity Terrain or Talking to Unity Client for Collision Information

Hi, this is interesting, we'd be glad if you could share some snippets to show how you have set up your project. Do you spawn a new Unity "server" for each game Room? Or do you send all requests (from all games) to a single Unity "server"? As regards the serialization I think you...

Yes 4GB is good and you can upgrade to 8GB in the future if you get higher traffic.
4 Core CPU is also fine.

Re: strange network peaks

Thanks, it's difficult to speculate here. One isolated spike in 10 minutes is not sign of anything bad, unless this happens often and with similar magnitude. There could be all kinds of reasons for that occurrence. The fact that both the green and red lines overlap indicates that the server received...

Re: strange network peaks

Network peaks can be normal, depending on how frequent and wide they are.
Also they can depend on what's going on in the server's queues.

If you have screenshot we can take a look. Would be cool to actually see the screenshots of both views in the Dashboard (network and queues)

Thanks

Re: strange network peaks

What peaks do you mean exactly?
Peaks in the usage of the CPU? Can you show me a graph taken from the admin tool?

Thanks
